FUNDRAISERS: Cross Country has the best fundraisers -- all you need to do is go out to eat as a family and get your friends and neighbors to join you! Potbelly's and Davanni's gives us proceeds raised during CC nights. POTBELLY's is set for Wednesday, Sept 7 from 5:00-8:30 PM. DAVANNI's is TUESDAY, OCT. 18, 5:00-8:30 PM. Mark your calendars! This is a fun night socializing with other cross country families.
TWIN CITIES MARATHON WATER STOP: This year we will be at Mile 9 of the Twin Cities Marathon on Sunday, Oct. 9. Richfield Cross Country families and friends will be asked to staff the water stop from 6:30-11:00 AM. This water stop location is at approximately Minnehaha & Grand Ave. in Minneapolis.
PENN FEST: The Cross Country team volunteers for the annual Penn Fest race, which will be on Sunday, Sept. 18 this year. Plan on helping at noon with the water stop. The day includes all sorts of fun community activities along Penn Avenue between Highway 62 and about 68th Street. Come cheer on Coach Marty and Coach Jessica as they compete in the race.
APPAREL: Each year the team orders apparel (T-shirts, sweatshirts, sweat pants) with a cross country slogan and Richfield logo. If you have a suggestion for a slogan or art, please reply with your idea. Orders are optional. Look for more info soon!
COMMUNICATIONS: To keep runners and parents up to date on Cross Country happenings, coaches and parent volunteers may post updates to the Richfield Cross Country Facebook group, send out emails to the team and parents, and/or update information on our website. If you'd like to be included in email updates, please email Tammy Wallin, Parent Volunteer. Please contact Coach Marty Huberty at or 952-944-7262 if you have any questions or concerns.
CONGRATS to the runners, parents and siblings who competed in the optional URBAN WILDLAND RACE for Wood Lake Nature Center! Lots of Richfield alumni ran. Congratulations to Emma, Nicole, and Aria for finishing well in the 5K, and to Zamara for finishing well in the half marathon.
SIGN UP FOR PASTA DINNERS and MEET TREATS! Pasta dinners the night before race days have become a great tradition that has formed lifelong friendships and the support of a running community long after graduation. Help support our runners by hosting a pasta dinner and/or bringing bagels to races. Multiple families can divide the duties and the cost by joining together for a dinner. Contact captains' parents Bill & Anna Hoppe for more information or to sign up for meet treats and pasta dinners (the Spaghetti Dinners & Meet Treats schedule will be updated soon for 2016 openings).
Girls team: Nicole Mattson, Katy Stark, Emma Nollenberger
