CC Team are Grand Marshals of the Richfield Fourth of July Parade - July 4, 2014

Richfield Boys and Girls Cross Country teams were honored to be selected as Grand Marshals for this year's parade. 2013 highlights include the boys capturing the Classic Suburban Conference title and runner Obsa Ali winning the state championship and running at nationals.

Thank you to the "shoe crew" led by Lisa and Jerry Nygaard for creating our awesome shoe float and to everyone who worked to make our entry a success. Richfield Cross Country was praised for its large turnout and enthusiastic participation from the team and running community.

A few cardinal Richfield Cross Country shirts are available for $7.50 each. Contact Coach Marty as soon as possible if you want one of the 6 mediums or the 1 extra-large shirts.

Register now for the Urban Wildland - 5K & Half-Marathon August 3, 2014 Save $5 by regisgtering before midnight July 23! This is an optional race but a fun event for runners as the first race leading up to the 2014 season.

Good turnout for the 2014 Kick-off Picnic
Despite a one-day delay due to bad weather, a good crowd turned out for the Cross Country Kick-off Picnic on June 17. Thank you to the captains' parents who grilled and provide the main meal and to the other parents for contributing yummy desserts and healthy fruit. While the team went for their inaugural run, Coach Marty Huberty informed the parents of a few changes this season. (See updates below.)

A warm welcome to new runners!
Five new runners joined the team at the kick-off picnic. New runners are invited to join anytime this summer. For more information, contact Coach Marty Huberty at 952.994.7262 or Please join our Facebook group Richfield Cross Country for updates and our email list by emailing Communications Coordinator Marci Matson.

Same date but new time and place for Spartan Spirit Run
Mark your calendars for the Spartan Spirit Alumni Run! Current and former cross country runners and their families are invited to the annual event, held this year on Saturday, Aug. 16. To avoid the heat of an afternoon race, the time has been moved to 9 a.m. at Richfield High School. Hope to see everyone there!

Davanni's Fundraiser set for Oct. 2
The CC fundraiser at Richfield Davanni's is already set, strategically scheduled for the big Vikings-Packer game on Thursday, Oct. 2. Eat pizza, support your Spartan runners and watch the Purple defeat the Pack. (Some ill-informed folks among us think the Cheeseheads will win. Bring your fellow fans and cheer on your team.) The fundraiser will be held the night before the Shakopee invitational in place of a pasta dinner.
